Havana, Dec. 6 – That VIII. Summit of the Caribbean Community (Caricom)-Cuba started today in the Barbados Convention Center.
The event marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on December 8, 1972 between Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, the first four independent territories of the Caribbean, with the largest being the Antilles.

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, attends the regional meeting with the high-level delegation accompanying him on his official visit to Cuba.
The Cuban President assured this Monday that the summit will be a reunion between Caribbean brothers to further strengthen ties of friendship, respect, mutual support, solidarity and collaboration for the good of our peoples.
