Vince Dunn and the Kraken avoid arbitration

The Seattle Kraken signed defenseman and restricted free agent Vince Dunn on Friday.

The official announcement was made by the organization at the beginning of the evening. Sportsnet network reporter Elliotte Friedman reported that the defenseman has agreed to a four-year, $29.4 million deal.

The 26-year-old athlete had exercised his right to arbitration and was due to have his hearing before a neutral judge next Monday.

In 2022–2023, Dunn settled on a two-year contract that allowed him to earn $4 million annually. The guard has had a fantastic season, scoring 14 goals and providing 50 assists for 64 points in 81 games. This is easily his best stat since his time in the National League.

Dunn was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the 32nd-team Bettman League expansion draft by the Kraken. The Mississauga native was selected by the Missouri team in the second round (56th overall) of the 2015 amateur auction.

“Since I first put on the Seattle Kraken jersey, I’ve really experienced something special. I’ve been given an incredible opportunity with this organization and I want to wear this jersey for many years to come,” Dunn said after his team was eliminated in two rounds of the recent playoffs.
