The band has been in town for over a week and over the weekend Tommy Lee criticized the high price of cigarettes in Australia.
Lee couldn’t believe how much a pack of Marlboro Gold 25s from 7-Eleven cost compared to the rest of the world.
He was outraged when he was charged $251.96 for four packs of cigarettes and shared his receipt on his Instagram page.
“$251.96 for 4 packs of cigarettes here in Melbourne,” he wrote alongside two bird-flipping emojis.
He then took aim at 7-Eleven’s “Wonderfully Easier” slogan and wrote instead: “7/11 wonderfully cheesy!”
Lee paid $62.99 per pack, which is expensive even by Australian standards, where the average pack costs $40.
According to the website Statista, a pack of Marlboro 20 costs around US$9 (around A$15) in the US.
The Australian government’s tobacco taxes are among the highest in the world to completely eradicate smoking.
The government’s goal is to reduce the proportion of daily smokers to less than 10 percent of the population by 2025.
The goal is to be below five percent by 2030.
Some Tommy fans were unaware of the enormous cost.
“Whoa,” one fan wrote in disbelief.
Jeeez’, added one more thing. “Yikes,” wrote another.
