The blood donation plan for the month of July was not fulfilled in Sandino. The main reason is the lack of collection bags to carry out donations. The limitation of this supply has a national character and is today the measure they are working on in blood collection. Marilin Lezcano, a statistician for the community blood bank, told the press that only 50 of the 118 planned donations were made.
In this sense, the production of blood products also decreased. This is an essential contribution for the national pharmaceutical industry. However, non-compliance with the donation plan did not prevent either transfusions from being carried out or prioritized groups from being considered.
To achieve this, they have developed a strategy that takes into account the presence of donors as needed. The decisive factors were the relatives of needy patients and voluntary blood donors.
In this way, terminally ill patients, one of the prioritized groups, could count on the necessary blood cells for their treatments. For the mother-child program, statistics ensured they had the resources to care for any mother or baby who needed it.
