The holiday-themed action thriller Violent Night exceeded expectations at the box office weekends, grossing $13.3 million from its debut and finishing not far behind Black Panther: Wakanda Forever first place with another $17.6 million.

Wakanda Forever has now grossed $394 million domestically, surpassing the combined grossing of The Batman ($369 million) and Thor: Love and Thunder ($343 million), making it the biggest superhero movie of 2022. It has grossed $733 million worldwide.

Elsewhere, things have been quiet, especially when Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery went missing after his week-long engagement.

Disney’s animated feature Strange World failed to rebound in its sophomore year, grossing just $4.9 million in its second weekend and now sits at just $42.3 million worldwide.

Searchlight’s “The Menu” took fourth place with $3.6 million and now sits at a worldwide total of $47 million. “Devotion” finished fifth with another $2.8 million and a domestic gross to date of just $13.8 million. Even Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans is struggling with another $1.3 million added to a domestic total of just $5.6 million.

Eventually, the re-release of Top Gun: Maverick grossed an additional $700,000, bringing the domestic total to $717 million now. Everything seems to be waiting for the arrival of James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water in two weeks.
