Rio Digital influencer Virgínia Fonseca, 23, wife of compatriot Zé Felipe, who happens to be the son of singer Leonardo, was criticized on social media this Sunday after publishing a post about politics. “Today is election day. Choose wisely, it is our right and it is up to us to decide what is best for our Brazil,” he began on Instagram Stories.
“Don’t get carried away by each other’s reality. Think about your reality, your principles, and your values. That’s it, vote for yourself, for your child, for your family, our most valuable asset. Remember: the vote is secret and we live in a democracy,” he concluded.
Talk of voting about “family” and forgetting “the other” had a negative impact on social media, and Virginia became the target of attacks on Twitter. “Nice empathy, huh?” one person asked. “Virgínia Fonseca is pathetic in so many ways,” commented another follower. “Virgínia Fonseca really screwed that up! This is the height of ignorance and selfishness,” said another netizen. “Yes, Virgínia Fonseca, 33 million Brazilians starving shouldn’t affect my vote. Go wash the dishes,” complained another person.
