A body recovered from the Danube in Upper Bavaria a few days ago is that of a child. As police reported on Monday, the autopsy showed it was a preschool boy. “The child’s identity has not yet been clarified,” the investigators reported. “It is currently not possible to make any statements about the circumstances of the death.”
Ingolstadt criminal police formed an investigation team to clarify the background. However, it is still unclear whether the boy was the victim of a crime.
Bub was already very decomposed
Several media outlets had previously reported that it was a dead child. According to “Bild”, the body of the four-to-six-year-old boy was packed in a plastic bag. The police initially gave no information about this. The “Donaukurier” reported, citing investigators, that there is currently no missing person in the area of the police headquarters in Northern Upper Bavaria that would fit the dead boy.
A kayaker saw something floating on the Danube at a dam near Vohburg on the Danube (Pfaffenhofen district) on Thursday and brought it ashore with his paddle. It wasn’t until the weekend that it became clear it was a human body. This suggests that the dead boy was already very decomposed.
“Fluvio” determined
The corpse must now be examined by forensic doctors in Munich. In particular, investigations must now give clues to the cause of death and provide clues to the child’s origin.
The criminal investigation group “Fluvius” (Latin for river) also wants to use search measures to find where the boy may have died or at least entered the Danube. To that end, the water above the site was searched on Monday. Police divers and other personnel on a boat had already surveyed the current and shore over the weekend.
