The anti-queer movement in the United States, which has been making headlines in recent weeks, is part of a larger global effort to eradicate queer people, particularly transgender people. As transphobic laws are being enacted in the political arena, organizations have created funds to help protect transgender youth around the world. Lana and Lilly Wachowski, the sisters behind The Matrix films, Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas, are hosting an auction to help keep trans kids and teens safe during this stressful time.

Through their auction, Enter the Matrix: The Wachowski Collection, the sisters are selling items from their most popular works, including the films mentioned above and their Netflix cult classic Sense8. Lilly took to Twitter to call it “spring cleaning,” with all proceeds from the auction going to the Protect & Defend Trans Youth Fund, which will donate all of its crowdfunding money to several trans organizations across the United States. You can also simply donate money by clicking the link above.

In a mission statement on the fund’s website, the Youth Fund has said that proceeds will go to organizations that “provide direct services to trans youth and advocate for the rights of trans youth in states currently protected by anti-trans policy are affected”. Specific organizations include the Black Trans Advocacy Coalition, Gender Nexus, the Southern Arizona Gender Alliance, and the Zebra Coalition. At the time of writing, the fund has raised $784,633, just over half of its $1,500,000 endgame.

Items currently still available are from Cloud and Jupiter Ascending, including the necklaces worn by the latter film’s Abrasax children, jackets by Cloud Atlas and a vinyl sextet of Cloud’s score by composers Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Unhurt. Absent bids are currently being accepted prior to a live auction beginning May 12 at 11:00 am ET.
