Wagner Group accepts proposal to halt its advance in Russia

The head of private military group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, on Saturday accepted Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s offer to halt the advance into Russian territory and take new measures to ease tensions.

The press service of the President of Belarus said that a profitable and acceptable option was developed to resolve the situation with security guarantees for the fighters of the Wagner PMC.

This morning President Vladimir Putin briefed his Belarusian counterpart on the situation in southern Russia at the private military company Wagner. The heads of state agreed on a joint approach.

Following the agreements, after clarifying the situation through the channels available to him, the President of Belarus, in coordination with the President of Russia, held talks with the head of the private military company Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

For his part, Prigozhin also confirmed that he had accepted Lukashenko’s proposal.

Prigozhin announced that after approaching 200 kilometers from Moscow, his fighters would return to their bases to avoid bloodshed.

“The time has come when blood can be shed. Realizing full responsibility that one of the parties shed Russian blood, our columns turn around and return to our bases as planned,” he said in an audio message on his Telegram channel.
