Here is our selection of the best wallpaper applications to personalize your Android smartphone for free.
There are tons of wallpapers on the internet, which can quickly make you feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices available to you. To help you sort through, we have selected our favorite applications so that you can find “wallpapers” to your liking and change them from time to time. Here is our selection.
Our favorite apps for your wallpapers on Android
The following list is by no means exhaustive, but if you download a few of these applications from the Play Store you should definitely find what you're looking for. For others, it's always the photos you took yourself with your smartphone.
Structure

Developed by Hampus Olsson, the designer of wallpapers for OnePlus smartphones, the Abstruct application is quite new. It logically allows you to have all the wallpapers of OnePlus phones (but not only) without having to buy one. The app currently offers 245 free and 264 paid wallpapers.
To access it, you need to pay a “Pro” subscription for €0.99 per month or €5.99 per year. We're not actually subscription customers and prefer one-time payment plans, but the creator made that choice. In case you haven't noticed, the thing about wallpapers is that they're…abstract.
Amoledpix

If you have a smartphone with an AMOLED screen, you know that black pixels aren't pixels, which can save you valuable battery life. Amoledpix app thinks of you by offering basically dark wallpapers.
Their selection is very large and the automatic wallpaper change function is well thought out. Everything is divided into 25 categories. The Premium version ranges from €1.59 per month to €4.09 as a one-time payment to access 100% of the catalog and remove advertising from the application.
backgrounds

A good application with wallpapers offered by the developers of Backgrounds. New free wallpapers are available every day, providing plenty to choose from. Backgrounds are easy to use with just four tabs, including one where you can find the wallpapers you like.
You can set a wallpaper on your homepage and/or unlock page with one click. To download the image you need to look at where you can upgrade to the pro version. The latter is offered for less than five euros and gives you access to a significantly larger and even higher quality catalog.
STOKiE

STOKiE is particularly interesting for those who appreciate wallpapers from different smartphone manufacturers. In fact, the application is regularly updated to offer wallpapers for phones from Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, etc. A wallpaper application specialized in making you stand out better.
The wallpapers are available for free, but the paid version for €3.99 (one-time payment) offers an ad-free experience, faster browsing and additional features such as wallpaper customization and a dark mode for the interface.

Tapet is a very original application because it does not offer a selection of wallpapers, but generates them according to your preferences and then integrates them perfectly into your smartphone. The app automatically detects the resolution of your screen and adjusts the wallpapers perfectly accordingly.
Everything works intuitively with gestures: swipe up to create a new wallpaper, swipe down to return to the previous one, swipe right to change colors, and swipe left to change patterns. You can enable or disable specific patterns, colors, and effects to include or exclude them from automatic generation. The app is 100% free.
Wally

Walli stands out for his selection of illustrations and photos created by a community of artists from around the world. When you start, the app will ask you to select three or more categories that interest you to personalize your experience. To download a wallpaper in the free version, you need to watch an advertisement.
The paid subscription gives you access to unlimited 4K wallpapers and ad-free browsing. If you want to subscribe to it, the annual subscription for €19.99 is of course the choice, as the other option costs €5.49 per week. Unless you want to recover as many images as possible in a short time and not return to the application for a long time.
Walpy

This is undoubtedly the most minimalist wallpaper application in our selection. However, don't forget to have a nice selection of wallpapers that are as beautiful as they are diverse. The artists are highlighted by each having their own category. You can download them, add them to your favorites or blur them as you wish. All without advertising.
To find the paid version, you need to go to Settings and select the source of the wallpapers displayed. Some categories here are reserved for subscribers. For €1.09 per month or €8.99 per year, you benefit from an unlimited number of wallpapers and favorites, but also new filters and a history of auto-scrolling wallpapers.
