A Pakistani-based Punjabi-based Khalistani terrorist was shot dead in Lahore on May 6 by two unidentified gunmen, a government source said. Paramjit Singh Panjwar, 63, a key leader of the Khalistan Commando Force (KCF), a banned terrorist organization, was classified as an “individual terrorist” under the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act (UAPA) in 2020.
The source said Singh was shot dead on Saturday morning while he was out for a walk. He was escorted by a security guard when attackers on motorcycles fired at him at close range. The source added that Singh used to live under the protection of Pakistan’s ISI. A photo shared by officials showed Singh in a tracksuit and jogging shoes lying in a pool of blood.
A Home Office notice dated July 1, 2020 said Singh had arranged weapons training for youth in Pakistan and continued to engage in the supply of arms and ammunition and subsequent infiltration into India to target Very Important Persons (VIP) and economic entities to target
Singh belonged to the district of Tarn Taran in Punjab and fled to Pakistan in 1990.
Officials said Singh regularly hosted “seditious and separatist programs” on Radio Pakistan to incite the Sikh minority against the Indian government.
The official added that he is a key liaison between smugglers and terrorists and through KCF is trying to engage former militants and link up with other forces hostile to India.
KCF was formed in February 1986 with the aim of creating Khalistan through violent means and armed struggle through bank robberies and kidnappings for ransom.
At India’s request, Interpol issued a Red Notice against Singh in 1995.
