War, “a success”. Shoigu certifies the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu declared the Ukrainian counteroffensive that began in June this year a failure and assured that the Russian army was advancing in all sectors of the front. “The main efforts over the past year were focused on achieving the objectives of the special military operation. The most important thing was to interrupt the counteroffensive announced by Ukraine and its NATO allies. “The mission was successfully completed,” said the Vladimir Putin supporter at a meeting with the General Staff of the Russian Army.

According to Shoigu, “this is due to several decisive factors: the creation of an effective fortification system, the high combat capability of all units, the reliability and effectiveness of Russian military equipment.” “And above all – said the minister – the skillful and decisive actions of the defenders of the homeland, who selflessly guarantee the security of the country and its citizens.” Shoigu also highlighted “the joint efforts in the rear and at the front” that the troops helped, noting that “the Russian army is constantly taking increasingly advantageous positions and expanding control over new areas in all sectors of the front.”

For two months, the Russian armed forces have significantly intensified their actions in various sectors of the front, especially in the Donetsk region. The Russians have also made good progress in the Kharkiv region, trying to get closer to Kupiansk, a city from which they were forced to withdraw in September 2022. Ukraine launched a counteroffensive last June aimed at pushing Russian forces there. He fought south and severed the land bridge connecting Russia to the Crimean peninsula, annexed in 2014, but his efforts were blocked by mines and fortified Russian defense lines in the Zaporizhzhia sector thwarted. And even the Ukrainians themselves admitted the flop and the slow progress of the attempt.
