Pierre Martinet, former executive director of the DGSE action service, and Héloïse Fayet, specialist in the Middle East, are the guests of 12/13 info on Thursday November 2nd.
In Gaza, Israel wants to neutralize Hamas’ military capabilities and at the same time free the hostages. “In all wars there will be collateral damage, and even more so, because there will be a concentration of the population in very few square meters,” warns Pierre Martinet, former head of the DGSE operations department and director of Wincorp Security Defense, guest of 12/13 Info, Thursday, November 2nd. According to him, the hostages are slowing down the Israeli military, but negotiations are underway.
Hostages are an object of negotiation
“The families of the hostages worked very hard to ensure that Netanyahu and his government did not allow themselves to be drawn into a revenge trial (…) but that the lives of the hostages were taken into account,” adds Héloïse Fayet, researcher at IFRI, Middle East specialist. This hostage situation is complicated because it is international. “Hamas has no interest in releasing the hostages quickly (…) it is a negotiating tool,” assures Pierre Martinet. As for the duration of the war: “We can expect it to last quite short at the military level, but very long at the political level,” concludes Héloïse Fayet.
