The Spanish military at Al-Asad base, sure
At the Al Asad base, which was attacked this Saturday with twenty rockets, there is a contingent of the Spanish Army called Task Force Toro, consisting of four Cougar transport helicopters and fifty soldiers. According to the Ministry of Defense, none of them were affected. The contingent is part of Operation Inherent Resolve (IR), led by the United States at the head of an international coalition.
Most of the rockets fired against the Ain al-Asad air base in western Iraq and near Baghdad were intercepted by the base's air defense system, according to Iraqi military sources cited by Efe, pointing to the pro-Iranian Islamic Resistance militia blamed for firing the projectiles in Iraq.
