Hamas members are short-, medium- and long-term targets of Israel, wherever they are. The mission was entrusted to the Mossad, Israel's secret service.
Hamas's political and military leaders are temporary men. Israel has vowed to eliminate them all. “I have ordered the Mossad to take action against the Hamas leader, wherever he may be,” Benjamin Netanyahu said. The hunt began from Qatar via Turkey to Egypt. The head of the Israeli secret service Mossad is leading the operation. In 1973, after the murder of 11 of its athletes in Munich, Germany, at the Olympic Games, Mossad drew up a list of 20 to 35 Palestinian officials to kill. They persecuted them in France, Italy and Cyprus.
“Avenge” October 7th
Yaakov Peri was head of the secret service in the 1980s. The Mossad, he says, has bases in all countries and holds nothing back. “There isn’t just one option for these actions. You can hire a murderer, you can put a bomb in a car, in a house, in a telephone,” he explains. Today, Hamas political leaders are in Qatar. “Even if we had the right information and it was possible to kill those responsible, which I doubt, Israel needs Qatar because the release of the hostages is being negotiated there,” says Yossi Melman, journalist and Mossad specialist.
Israeli services say that a generation of agents will dedicate themselves to the revenge of October 7th and that the Mossad will not set a deadline.
