Often referred to as the “city that never sleeps,” Tel Aviv lives in fear. Despite everything, the population is trying to return to normal life.
Normally the beach in Tel Aviv, Israel is crowded, but on Sunday, October 29th, the beach was completely deserted since the numerous Hamas attacks on October 7th. “Tel Aviv usually recovers quickly. But that’s hard. We don’t see any joy or happiness,” says a resident. The veil of sadness seems to lie over the city. “You always have the images of this tragedy in your head,” continues one city resident.
Not in the party spirit
The market only sees a few people. Many residents feel abandoned and do not see their everyday life in the same way. The doors of a French bakery chain are open to volunteers. They prepare meals for the soldiers. “Going to a restaurant is something you don’t do anymore,” notes one woman. In trendy districts almost everything is closed. Nobody is in the mood to party anymore.
