On October 7, Mia Shem was kidnapped by Hamas in Israel. After her release at the end of November, the 21-year-old agreed to talk about her ordeal on television.

Mia Schem, the 21-year-old former French-Israeli hostage, was released on November 30, but the trauma is still there. When she was interviewed for the first time, she returned to the difficult conditions of her detention in two interviews and made allegations. “I experienced a Holocaust. Everyone there is a terrorist, they are families that are under the control of Hamas,” she says. On October 7, Mia was attending a techno festival near Gaza when Hamas terrorists showed up and massacred 270 people there.

“It is forbidden to speak”

The young girl was injured in the arm in the attack. “It was really up close,” she testifies. She was taken hostage and returned to Gaza. She said she was “locked in a dark room” in the Palestinian enclave. “It is forbidden to speak, you are not allowed to be seen, you are not allowed to be heard. You are hidden,” she continues. “They looked at me like I was an animal. I was constantly afraid that something would happen to me, that someone would touch me,” says Mia. She also says that she was sometimes deprived of food and sleep for 54 days.
