Kiev building hit by drone, at least two injured

At least two people were injured in the attack on a residential building in Kiev that was hit by an explosive drone in a new Russian night raid, Ukrainian authorities report.
This is the first incident of its kind in the Ukrainian capital in months. Although Kiev is regularly the target of Russian missile and drone attacks, most of them are shot down by air defenses.
An air alarm was sounded in Kiev late in the evening. Shortly afterwards, residents in the area heard loud explosions. City Hall initially announced that air defense was operational in the city and urged residents to stay in emergency shelters. The accident occurred in the Solomiansky district in the southwest of the capital, with “flames reported on the upper floors” of the building, Mayor Vitali Klitschko added on Telegram.
“A residential building in Kiev was hit by a Shahed,” an Iranian-made drone that Moscow regularly uses for these attacks on its neighbor: this is what the head of the presidential administration Andrii Iermak said on Telegram. A man from the neighborhood was taken to hospital and another received medical treatment on site, he added, without giving further details. The city's military administration published photos on Telegram of the apartments with bay windows blown out by the explosions. According to widespread information, it was not a drone attack, but rather fragments from a downed drone, which ensured that the fire could be quickly extinguished.
In Golosiivsky District (south of the city), a fragment of a destroyed drone fell on a skyscraper without causing any fatalities.

French President Emmanuel Macron stressed that the West cannot let Russia “win” in Ukraine and that support for Kiev must continue, even if it “costs.” “Whoever knows the balance of power measures what we cannot allow and how much we cannot let Russia win,” he told French forces stationed in Jordan during a Christmas dinner. “What would tomorrow look like for us Europeans? So we will continue to help Ukrainians, which we do, even if it costs us something,” Macron said.
