The situation in the war in Israel is getting worse. Iran, Hamas’ main supporter, is threatening Israel and the United States with attacks.

Tehran – Iran and its military are, in a sense, the lifeline of several militia groups in the Middle East. Among these militia groups that Iran is training and equipping is Hamas, which launched a bloody attack against Israel, Iran’s arch-enemy, on October 7. In the war in Israel, Iranian threats are now increasing after the US also established a military presence near Israel.

Iran and the US fear that the other will interfere in the conflict. The US has sent two aircraft carriers to the region to deter Iran and pro-Iran militia groups such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah. Iran, on the other hand, is signaling and warning that if the US joins Israel’s military operations against the Gaza Strip, it itself will intervene. High-ranking Iranian politicians have repeatedly threatened the West and the US with attacks.

Israel-Hamas War: “US intervention is a strategic error”

Javad Larijani, advisor to Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, was the last to speak. “A US intervention on behalf of Israel would be a strategic error,” he said, according to the North American magazine Newsweek. This would make US targets across the region “legitimate targets for resistance fighters,” he told Iranian television. “The war would not then be limited to Gaza,” said Larijani, who drew attention to the US presence in Iraq and Syria.

The US Army has dozens of bases in Iraq and Syria. In addition to regular Iranian troops, there are also thousands of fighters from pro-Iranian militia groups in these countries. There have been repeated attacks on US bases in the past by the so-called “resistance front,” which consists of Iran and dozens of pro-Iran militia groups.

War in Israel: Iranian Foreign Minister threatens the US – “It may be too late”

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also publicly threatened the US last Sunday (October 15) over the war in Israel. “Iran cannot sit idly by and watch this situation,” he told Qatari broadcaster Al-Jazeera. The war could expand. “And in this case the US would also suffer heavy losses,” he emphasized. The attacks must end, Abdollahian said, “otherwise it may be too late and the likelihood of the war expanding increases by the hour.”

His spokesman, Naser Kanaani, renewed the threat on Tuesday (October 17). “The reach of the resistance front’s hands is great,” he told Lebanese broadcaster Al-Mayadeen. At the same time, he openly announced that “preventive strikes” would soon be carried out. “The front of resistance cannot be limited to just one region and Zionists must think carefully about all options,” warned Kanaani, adding: “If the enemy crosses the red lines, we will respond.” (bb)
