War in Ukraine live: Power restored in Lviv, new Russian strikes near border

  • Ukraine denounces “massive” Russian bombing in several cities across the country, including the capital, Kyiv. According to the Ukrainian authorities, 54 of the 69 Russian missiles launched were “shot down”. Earlier in the day, the Ukrainian Presidency announced that around 120 missiles had targeted the country.
  • These bombings have killed three people and injured six others, including a child, in different regions of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Interior Minister announced on Thursday evening. A volley of rockets fired at Kharkiv then killed two people and injured one, according to the region’s governor. Also around noon 40% of Kyiv residents were without electricity, as was 90% of Lviv residents. The regions of Kharkiv, Odessa, Mykolaiv and Kherson were also affected.
  • That Belarus on Thursday claimed to have shot down a Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile near the village of Gorbakha, in the Brest region (south-west), on the border with Ukraine. This is the first incident of this kind that Minsk has reported since the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine. Kyiv says it doesn’t rule out “deliberate provocations” by Russia. The Ukrainian ambassador in Belarus was summoned.
