War in Ukraine, live: Three dead in a Russian drone attack in the Kiev region

The Russian Navy has “repelled” a drone attack on the port of Sevastopol.

The Russian Navy on Wednesday “repelled” a drone attack on the port of Sevastopol on the Moscow-annexed Crimean Peninsula, the city’s governor said.

“The Black Sea Fleet repelled a surface drone attack on Sevastopol,” Russian-installed Governor Mikhail Razvojayev told Telegram. “In total, three objects were destroyed,” he added, assuring that “the situation is under control.” He said there were no casualties or ships damaged, but the blasts shattered windows in nearby buildings. Among these buildings is a cultural center called “The House of Moscow”, which is located next to the port and is very well known in the city. “They tried to enter our bay, our sailors shot at them with handguns. Air defense worked too,” Razvojayev added.

According to him, several local radio stations in Sevastopol then broadcast false alerts to residents about an evacuation order after their airwaves were hacked by Ukrainian hackers. “After we managed to repel the drone attack on Sevastopol, Ukrainian Nazis launched an information attack,” the governor wrote on Telegram. “Information about the evacuation of the peninsula by ferries is being disseminated,” he said, denouncing a “lie”.

“In the event of a real danger, the warnings will be broadcast on all channels simultaneously and primarily through loudspeakers on the street, which cannot be hacked,” Mr. Razvojayev assured, stressing : “Everything is quiet in the city. Sevastopol is the home port of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Since the start of the Moscow offensive against Ukraine in February 2022, Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, has repeatedly been the target of drone attacks.
