- The Ukrainian army said on Tuesday that it had repelled Russian attacks near Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine. The Russians were “trying to encircle the city,” military administration chief Vitalii Barabash said during the day, while Avdiivka had been under Russian fire since the morning. According to him, about 1,600 residents still live in Avdiivka, compared to 30,000 before the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
- Volodymyr Zelensky claims that Russia is trying to carry out destabilizing actions around the world, especially in the Middle East. “We are sure that Russia supports the operations carried out by Hamas in one way or another,” the Ukrainian president said in an interview with France 2.
- Russia failed on Tuesday to win back a seat on the UN Human Rights Council from which it was expelled after the invasion of Ukraine. However, Moscow received 83 votes from 193 United Nations member states.
- Germany is accelerating its arms deliveries to Ukraine before winter. The Defense Ministry announced that Berlin will deliver new air defense systems, tanks and armored vehicles in the coming weeks. The German company Rheinmetall announced an order from the German government to supply more than 150,000 artillery ammunition to Ukraine.
- Helsinki suspects external intervention due to the leak in the Finland-Estonia gas pipeline. Finnish investigators found no signs of explosives being used, but the Norwegian Institute of Seismology said on Tuesday it had detected a “probable explosion” in the area of the leak. Finnish sources told the BBC that “there were suspicions of Russian sabotage in retaliation for Finland’s accession to NATO in April.”
- Two civilians were killed in a Ukrainian attack in Russia’s Belgorod region on Tuesday, Border of Ukrainesaid local governor Vyacheslav Gladkov in Telegram.
