“With other nofly zones, the third world war did not break out”. Journalist Maria Giovanna Maglie spoke on LA7’s morning talk, L’Aria che Tira, on Monday April 4 about the war in Ukraine, whose Italian debate between good and evil has polarized. The writer has supplanted Myrta Merlino and the guests by claiming to be in favor of the nofly zone to protect Ukraine: “I’ve been a supporter of the nofly zone since day one, it’s been used many times and no world war has broken out, now we have It’s the 40th day of the war and we’re dragging it with us”. Open and direct, as the presenter herself acknowledges: “Maria Giovanna has the merit of not being a hypocrite, it’s a great advantage to have a discussion with her.”
And speaking of sincerity, Maglie noted that there are two troubling issues that remain under the radar. The first is how willing the West is to pursue an effective line against Putin “because so far I have seen sanctions that can hit us more than Russia, still bought gas, ruble extortion and even hidden negotiations”. The second concerns Europe, Italy and Western wellbeing. “How close are we really close to Ukraine? the columnist asked before the sinking: “It seems to me that the country is far beyond the catastrophic, terrible and criminal images, still worried about the pandemic, about the bills, about the cold, darkness and economic crisis”. In practice, we might choose comfort when there is a real danger of changing lifestyles to endure the sacrifices imposed by the closed taps of Russian gas. Whose fault is it? According to Maglie della Politics: “What are our Prime Minister and the politicians doing to explain to the Italians that it is necessary to participate in this enterprise and to defend Europe? There is a great, extraordinary inadequacy of politics.”
