War in Ukraine, General Tricarico exposes Vladimir Putin’s strategy in Ukraine. “The cards that Putin still has in his hand, apart from the nuclear weapon, are now few and all losers. Recruiting 500,000 reservists or commoners, they say, is simply sending them to slaughter. A sinister move when unable to provide proper training, armaments and equipment, putting it into a working military instrument rather than a jammed one like the Russian one. General Dino Tricarico, president of the ICSA (Intelligence Culture and Strategic Analysis) Foundation and former Air Force Chief of Staff, told Adnkronos in reference to the Kiev intelligence service’s announcement that Moscow was recruiting another half a million men. “Unfortunately, the negotiating margins are becoming narrower and more tortuous, but above all we do not see who could play a decisive role, the will to follow a path that leads to a cessation of hostilities and an agreement, however precarious – stresses Tricarico – On the horizon of this anomalous and basically senseless war remains the hope of a final military attrition, which is unimaginable in the short term, or a sudden collapse of Putin’s power system, also caused by the loss of consensus and social stability”.
“In the background, however, the possible use of weapons of mass destruction remains unchanged. Today, many seem resigned to taking that risk, even the general mood seems deaf to the possibility of using nuclear weapons, the possible use of which – concludes Tricarico – does not evoke the terror of the early days. One can only hope that those who still do today, even insisting never to mention the term “negotiation” in any public or confidential statement, has solid and proven reasons for ruling out the nuclear option.”
