War in Ukraine: Russia suspends participation in Ukrainian grain export deal

  • Russia announces suspension of agreement on export of Ukrainian grain. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced without further details that the agreement, which has enabled the export of 33 million tons of grain since July 2022, will come back into force “if the part on the Black Sea that affects Russia is implemented”.
  • An incident occurred on a major bridge connecting Crimea with Russia’s Krasnodar Territory, causing traffic delays, said in the night from Sunday to Monday the Russian governor of the annexed peninsula of Crimea, Sergey Aksionov. Vladimir Rogov, head of the Russian occupying power in the Zaporizhia region, claims two tourists were killed. Moscow accuses Kiev of being responsible for the attack.
  • Pro-Russian authorities in the Kherson region lifted the curfewdue to the emergency situation that arose on the Crimean bridge and to ensure the possibility of round-the-clock transit traffic of passengers and cargo through the Kherson region of the territory from the “Republic of Crimea” to the Rostov region .
  • London imposes sanctions on Russians for “deporting” Ukrainian children. The new measures target a total of fourteen people, including Russia’s Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov and journalist Anton Krasovski, once a figure close to the liberal opposition and an LGBT+ rights activist-turned-power advocate.
  • Sweden presents a €522 million plan to rebuild Ukraine. The Swedish government on Monday presented a multi-year aid and reconstruction plan for Ukraine with a view to possible membership of the European Union.
