War in Ukraine: Russian army says it destroyed four US Himars missile launchers in two weeks

Russian forces reportedly destroyed four multiple rocket launcher systems that were being shipped to Ukraine.

“From July 5th to 20th four launchers of the HIMAR multiple launch rocket systemAmerican-made s were transferred to Ukraine destroyed by high-precision land and air forces,” said the spokesman for the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation on Friday, quoted by the Tass news agency.

These long-range weapons, which have recently caused extensive damage to troops in Moscow, have reportedly been targeted in part of the oblast (administrative area). Donetsk still under Ukrainian control, says Igor Yevguenievich Konashenkov. The M142 Himars, greatly feared by Moscow, had been designated as such priority goalss from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

In the Donbass

Specifically, according to the official representative of the Russian military, two units would have been reduced to nothing in the region Malotaranovka (south of Kramatorsk). A another on the edge of Pokrovsk (between Donestk and Kramatorsk) and the last around Kostyantynivka (south of Kramastorsk).

The Russian army had already announced the destruction of two Himars on July 6. These new announcements would therefore include these first losses.

However, Ukrainian authorities had denied the loss of those two multiple rocket launchers.

The M142 Himars (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is a multi-launch, highly mobile rocket launcher system developed by the American company Lockheed Martin. These multiple rocket launchers can fire six 227 mm caliber rockets (range up to 80 km) or one guided surface-to-surface tactical ballistic missile from the ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) family with a maximum range of 300 km.

The system is mounted on a light truck with a six-wheel, five-ton chassis from the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV).
