War in Ukraine: Russian paramilitary group Wagner announces capture of village near Bakhmout

Wagner’s mercenaries captured the village of Yahidne north of Bakhmout in eastern Ukraine on Saturday, Russian paramilitary group head Yevgeny Prigoyine said.

“On February 25 at 7:00 p.m., assault units from private military company Wagner took complete control of the village Yagodnoye (Yahidne) north of Bachmout‘ he said in a short audio message.

The day before, Yevgeny Prigozhin had demanded the conquest of another parish, Berkhivkain the suburbs of Bakhmout, theaters of bloody fights for months between Russian and Ukrainian forces in the Donetsk region.

The conquest of this place, if confirmed, further closes the Russian vice around Bakhmout.
