War in Ukraine, shock poll on Zelenskyy: How many Italians trust him

Not everything that glitters is gold. Apparently, the Western Front is united in supporting Zelenskyy’s Ukraine in defending against Russian aggression. At the popular level, however, things are very different. An article published in Corriere della Sera reports on the survey conducted by analysis center Pew Research in 24 countries around the world. As for trust in Zelenskyy, the overall average of the 24 countries reaches 51% of the population. In Italy, however, the situation is very different and the proportion who have little or no trust in the Kiev leader rises to a worrying 61%. Only Mexico (65%), Greece (71%) and Hungary (86%) have a worse opinion of the Ukrainian leader. The situation in the United States also gives us food for thought, where only 56% of the population have a positive view of Zelenskyy, while 33% say no.

All of this will have significant implications, especially in light of two key election dates for 2024: the European elections in June and the US elections in November. In both cases, the candidates must contend with great unrest and turmoil in public opinion over a war they cannot see ending. At least for now.
