“The victims were tortured for a long time […] Eventually every one of them was shot in the temple.” Kiev Police Chief Andrii Nebytov said in a statement. “Victims had their hands tied, their faces covered so they couldn’t see, and some had gags in their mouths.” he added.
The bodies of these three men were found in Myrotske, a village near Boutcha, a town near Kyiv that has become a symbol of the atrocities of the war in Ukraine and where many civilian bodies were discovered.
“According to preliminary information, the occupiers tried to hide the traces of their violence, so they threw the bodies into a pit and covered them with earth.” explained Andriï Nebytov.
Ten Russian soldiers charged
Kyiv accuses Russian forces of committing massacres after dozens of bodies in civilian clothes were discovered in places around Kyiv occupied by the Russian army and then abandoned.
This week the Ukrainian judiciary indicted ten soldiers from a Russian brigade who were stationed in the region during its brief occupation and are now wanted “cruel treatment of civilians and other violations of the laws and customs of war”.
