On Tuesday, December 5th, Ukraine will celebrate its 650th day of war. The daily life of Kherson residents, the Finnish Defense Minister’s announcement and 512 children killed since the start of the conflict… Here’s what we should remember from this day.

Today’s picture shows the daily life of the residents of Kherson (Ukraine). Two civilians were killed in a Russian bombing raid in broad daylight. Kherson is under constant fire from Russian forces stationed across the Dnieper, now forming the new front line.

Antti Häkkänen, Finnish Defense Minister, spoke about Finland’s help to Ukraine. “We have completed negotiations on further increasing the production of ammunition to arm Ukraine,” he said. Finland, a new NATO member, is preparing to operate its factories, while Ukraine fears it will soon run out of ammunition. The European Union has acknowledged that it may not be able to deliver the promised million munitions by early 2024. Russia’s neighbor Finland supports Ukraine, although it did not export any ammunition at the beginning of 2022.
Today’s figure: 512 children killed
512. According to the Ukrainian authorities, this is the number of children killed since the conflict began almost two years ago. Children have been killed in Russian bombings, especially in the east of the country and in the capital Kiev. An assessment that remains provisional. The number of minor casualties in the Russian-occupied areas remains unknown.
