Ukraine says it shot down 14 drones launched by Russia
The Ukrainian army said on Sunday it had shot down 14 of the 15 drones launched by Russia overnight, mainly in the south of the country. “The Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed 14 harmful drones in the Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and Khmelnitsky regions as a result of air battles,” the Ukrainian Air Force said on the Telegram messaging application.
The drones were launched from the east coast of the Sea of Azov. Portal could not independently verify this information. Russia had no immediate comment. Military and civilian authorities reported no damage or casualties.
Russia claims to have shot down four Ukrainian military aircraft
The Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday that its air defense systems had shot down four Ukrainian military aircraft in the last 24 hours, two days after a similar announcement from Kiev.*
Russian air defenses shot down three Su-27 fighters and one Su-24 tactical bomber in the Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions of southeastern Ukraine, the Defense Ministry said in its daily bulletin, without giving further details. Two days earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and military officials claimed that Ukrainian forces shot down three Russian Sukhoi Su-34 tactical bombers in the south of the country.
