“Under no circumstances should nuclear power be used against Ukraine. It could be used against the US, but only in response if the US hits us.” So the Russian journalist Vladimir Solovyev, guest in connection from Moscow by Massimo Giletti, during the Sunday 1 May episode of Non è l’Arena, the political talk show that airs prime time on La7.

“The only country that used nuclear weapons was the United States of America, not Russia – the conductor of Russia 1 recalls – We have no written document suggesting that we can use a nuclear tactical attack, which maybe is something the United States of America could do and that’s what they said, no one has ever talked about that possibility in Russia, neither is it imaginable because the radioactive dust would return to our territory and it would be terrible for us would.

Solovyev reminds Italy that Vladimir Putin’s Russia employs only 15% of the army for special operations in Ukraine. Around 150,000 soldiers are on Ukrainian territory because “we are the Ukrainian people, even if it’s difficult to understand,” says the journalist. During the live broadcast, in the debate with the director of “Libero”, Alessandro Sallusti, the Russian journalist claims to be the target of the Ukrainian President: “Zelensky’s friends want to kill me! They organized different ways – says the leader of Russia 1 – One who was an antifascist was killed in Ukraine. Journalists are killed there, all television stations are banned”.

The Libero editor asks his Russian colleague about the reason for the arrests in Russia and Giletti recalls that 31 journalists have been killed since Russian President Vladimir Putin was in office: “I don’t arrest anyone. I’m a journalist, it’s Zelensky who arrests,” stresses Solovyev, who accuses Sallusti of being a propagandist “in whose service I don’t know and against the interests of Russians”. “You are someone who wants the war to continue! Putin does not arrest anyone. Did you see a reporter come out with a live sign? – he asks the director, referring to Ekaterina Andreeva – And nothing happened, she was not arrested. In fact, he now works for a German TV station.”
