War in Ukraine: Washington fears that Moscow will seize the structures of “biological research”

American diplomacy fears that Russian forces could “take control” of “biological research” structures in Ukraine. And thus seize sensitive materials.

Anxiety is palpable in American ranks. During parliamentary hearings on Tuesday, March 8, Victoria Nuland, Undersecretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, stated that “Ukraine has biological research centers and we are really very concerned right now about the possibility that Russian forces will try to take control of it.”

She specifies that “[les États-Unis] we are working with the Ukrainians to ensure that these research materials do not fall into the hands of Russian forces if they approach them.”

“Without a doubt”

During the same hearing, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio pointed out that “Russian propaganda” reported on an alleged Ukrainian “plan” aimed at using “biological weapons in the country under NATO coordination.”

The city of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine has been under heavy bombardment for days.

The senator then asked Victoria Nuland a question: “If there was an incident or a terrorist attack in Ukraine using biological or chemical weapons, would it be 100% clear to you that the Russians would be responsible?” To this question, the diplomat gave a clear answer: “I have no doubts.”

Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, Russia has already captured the Chernobyl and Zaporozhye nuclear power plants.
