Spain will open a diplomatic antenna in Moldova
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, this Friday entrusted his Moldovan counterpart, Nicu Popescu, with the support of Spain in the face of recent events in the country, which has registered several explosions in the separatist region of Transnistria.
“I sent Spain’s support and solidarity to Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu and we exchanged views on the situation in his country,” Albares wrote on his Twitter account.
The call comes after Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez was postponed just 24 hours before his trip to Moldova, which he was due to start on Thursday, was due to meet with Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and the President. Maia Sandu and a visit to a Ukrainian refugee center in Chisinau.
