Unsurprisingly, given that Pascal Lambert’s health condition does not allow him to resume his duties, members of Warwick Parish Council decided on Monday night, citing serious reasons beyond the person’s control, to extend his Absence requested until 7 am November.
This intervention was necessary because provincial law stipulates that a mayor cannot be absent for more than 90 consecutive days. Depending on the development of the Mayor’s health, Warwick’s elected officials will have to revisit the issue during the regular Parish Council meeting on Monday 6 November.
The Mayor of Warwick was found seriously injured by a worker at the Jean Charles Perreault Arena in Warwick on the morning of April 30. He was in critical condition in the intensive care unit at the Trois-Rivières Regional University Affiliated Hospital Center (CHAUR) for several days.
He has now recovered. At the City Council meeting on Monday evening, Warwick City Manager-General Matthieu Levasseur, with the approval of family members, let it be known that Mr Lambert is now in the rehabilitation phase. Ms Comtois must be absent from September 13th to 27th herself. Exceptionally, she is replaced by councilor Amélie Hinse, who is acting as deputy mayor for this short period. Due to the particular situation Warwick City Council finds itself in, a specific decision was required.
