The Detroit Lions camera crew captured this amazing moment as Barry Sanders reacted live to Jahmyr Gibbs’ touchdown run against the Raiders.
This week the Detroit Lions released their highly anticipated “Calls of the Game” video, giving us an inside look at the Detroit Lions radio operations. It’s always a pleasure to watch and listen to play-by-play announcer Dan Miller at work, complemented by Lions legend Lomas Brown, who was inducted into the Ring of Honor this week.
But this week’s edition of Monday Night Football against the Las Vegas Raiders had something else really cool to see. Legendary Lions running back Barry Sanders was in the house for the big game and the Browns’ halftime introduction, and this video happened to catch him in the broadcast booth at exactly the perfect time.
Because when Lions rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs scored his impressive 27-yard touchdown, guess who was watching him right outside the door? That’s right, we get to see Sanders’ live reaction to Gibbs’ touchdown, and it didn’t disappoint. You should watch the entire video, but if you want to skip to that exact moment, it’s at 1:27.
While Sanders was in the room, Brown – dressed in his “Ring of Honor” jacket – took the opportunity to pay Gibbs one of the highest compliments possible.
“Dan, I think he might have done that for No. 20,” Brown said. “That looked a little, just a little like him.”
“That sounded a little familiar? Barry Sanders in the locker room, Jahmyr Gibbs on the field. That’s a good thing,” Miller replied.
Just a ridiculously cool moment to capture on video as you can see the excitement on Sanders’ face (well, as excited as he can be) as he leans in and throws up the touchdown sign.
