WATCH: Canada’s game postponed due to flooding on the field

Torrential rain fell in Jamaica and the pitch at Independence Park in Kingston was covered with several thousand liters of water, preventing the presentation of the game between the Reggae Boyz and Canada scheduled for Friday evening.

Instead, the two national teams will play this first leg of the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Nations League on Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m. This series is also about participation in the Copa America in 2024.

The game was scheduled to start at around 7pm, but kick-off was delayed several times before officials decided that play could not be played on the wet pitch. Images captured by the cameras show several brave people venturing onto the ground, in some places the water is up to their ankles.

Elsewhere in the country, several streets in major cities were flooded, leading to numerous power outages. Authorities are awaiting the possible arrival of a tropical storm that has developed in the western Caribbean.
