The worst of the bad luck hit the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night against the Arizona Coyotes, when Kristopher Letang and Evgeni Malkin combined forces to shake the threads of their own net.
The accident occurred at the start of the third period when the visitors were already down 3-2 at Mullett Arena. Due to a penalty called by the referees, head coach Mike Sullivan decided to put goalkeeper Tristan Jarry back on the bench.

Letang had possession of the puck in the defensive zone and passed to Malkin, who was driving in front of the empty cage. However, the Russian touched the target with the tip of his stick, which changed its trajectory. As he walked backwards, there was nothing he could do to stop him from crossing the red line.
Letang's reaction said it all. The Quebecer let out an “Oh my God” before sitting on the bench.
It was Lawson Crouse who was credited with the goal for the Coyotes. Arizona won the game 5-2, with former Penguins Jason Zucker and Nick Bjugstad turning the tables on their former club.
You should always be careful when removing your goalie. Montreal Canadiens fans probably still have nightmares when they think about Ryan O'Byrne's famous own goal on November 24, 2008.
