Watch MLB legend and three-time World Series champion David Ortiz comically fail to hit the ball while revealing the gender of his baby

When baseball legend David Ortiz revealed the gender of his fourth child, it was clear he was retiring.

Ortiz, 48, and his pregnant girlfriend Maria Yeribell Martinez paid tribute to his baseball days by revealing their gender. But after a long career of dropping balls from the world's best pitchers, “Big Papi” failed to hit a ball thrown gently in front of him.

Ortiz hit nothing but air as he swung at the ball. Still, the blue confetti told everyone that he and Martinez were having a son. The clip ends with Ortiz and his friends celebrating after he briefly tries to find the ball.

Fans took to social media to comment on the hilarious miss from one of baseball's best hitters.

“If Joaquin Benoit had thrown it he would have crushed it,” one fan commented.
