At the beginning of 2023, the success of the HBO apocalypse drama “The Last Of Us” catapulted star Pedro Pascal to the status of “the Internet’s favorite father”.

But now, as the year comes to a close, it's clear that a hot new HBO star has become the object of the Internet's obsession – and he's threatening to take Pascal's zaddy crown!

Last night, the second season of the deliciously raunchy series The Gilded Age came to a thrilling conclusion, which you probably knew if you still use Twitter X a lot because it felt like every gay person was posting about it.

Written by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, the series, which explores the shady social politics between the haves and the know-it-alls in late 19th-century New York City, really hit its stride in its second season and focused most of its story on what was dubbed the “Opera Wars” and providing that chaotic drama we live for.

But despite a cast of legendary actresses chewing the scenery week after week (Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Audra McDonald – we could go on), there is one star who has really managed to capture the attention of the gay audience of “The Gilded Age”: Morgan Spector

Spector — perhaps best known for his work in other HBO dramas like Boardwalk Empire and The Plot Against America — plays George Russell, your classic robber baron who also happens to be married to Bertha (Carrie Coon), one of the main protagonists the series. Together, the Russells represent “new money” and will do anything to earn the respect of polite society within New York City's class-obsessed aristocracy.

While Bertha was busy throughout the season opening the Metropolitan Opera House and convincing her colleagues to become patrons, George had his hands full with the steel mill he owns and trying to ignite a growing labor movement among his own to suppress disgruntled employees.

In other words: Yes, George is a greedy, anti-union capitalist. And yet The Gilded Age manages to make Spector look extremely sexy? Maybe it's because – as many viewers have noted – the series doesn't even try to hide his absolutely muscular body, which is so toned it doesn't even really make sense for a man of George's stature in this era. Not that we're complaining!

But if you think Spector looks good in a top hat and a three-piece suit, then you really should see him. This man can wear a t-shirt and jogging shorts pretty darn well – and he looks good in them too!

In keeping with the season finale of The Gilded Age, the 43-year-old actor did a photoshoot with photographer Matthew Priestley, wearing both elegant menswear and sporty streetwear. And honestly, just looking at these photos makes us sweat.

And these photos come just weeks after Spector appeared in a video for Interview Magazine called “Getting Ready For The Opera,” in which he stunned while trying on some chic looks.

The heat is almost unbearable – make sure you take a seat:

So what do we think? Is Spector the new “daddy du jour” to dethrone Pascal? If we were to do a poll now – especially while the internet is still in “The Gilded Age” fever – we think he might just come in first place.

And as a bonus, unlike Pascal, Spector is actually a dad. He has been married to his fellow actress Rebecca Hall (The Prestige, Vicky Cristina Barcelona) since 2015, and a few years later the two had a child together.

In any case, Spector is – officially – a fan of All the Durst. So drool and check out a few more of our favorite tweets about him below:
