Wawa to open stores in North Carolina by the end of 2024 :: WRAL.com

Wawa, the beloved gas station and convenience store in Pennsylvania, is planning an expansion in North Carolina.

A spokeswoman told WRAL News on Friday that the first stores will open in Tar Heel state before the end of 2024.

Wawa fans and Interstate 95 travelers are loyal to the 24-hour menu of sandwiches and coffee drinks and clean bathrooms. This poignancy often reserved for sports teams is described in the mockumentary Schitz vs. Wawa: The Movie.

“We are very excited to bring the one-of-a-kind Wawa brand and offering to this market in the near future. We look forward to serving the community with our quality fresh food and beverages and, as always, our commitment to the communities in which we operate,” said Laurie Bruce, Public Relations Manager for Wawa.

Wawa has about 900 offices, most with gas, in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Washington DC, but has skipped the Carolinas to date.

While Bruce declined to name specific locations in North Carolina, The Outer Banks Voice reported last month that the city of Kill Devil Hills is considering rezoning for the store.
