In recent weeks, and with increasing intensity in recent days, we have suffered an avalanche of attacks because we are Jews, because we are leftwing, because we have defended a fair and negotiated solution between Israelis and Palestinians, and because Natalia is also a woman is. Because Israel has been symbolically hijacked by the far right, almost everything said about the country is at risk of being distorted, truncated and taken out of context to be read without nuance in favor of either side. Each of these sides, armed with their certainties, has repeatedly proven themselves incapable of listening, dialogue and respect in the debate on horror, as if the only solution was to destroy the other in ideas and even physically, as it is preached through the attacks we suffer.
We therefore do not claim that there is symmetry in the current war, which we understand as the culmination of Israel’s chronic violence against Palestinians in the Middle East. We reject the Israeli attacks on the Gaza territory, we vehemently reject any of the brutal murders they have committed, we reject the restriction of rights that Palestinians in the West Bank have suffered for almost two decades, and we believe that The best way out is the situation we find ourselves in today would be a withdrawal and demilitarization of these areas, starting with an immediate ceasefire, which we have called for.
