Medicago staff interviewed The newspaper Friday morning had no words to express their surprise at the sudden loss of their job, which they “didn’t see coming”.

For the few employees who went to the Medicago plant on Quebec’s Boulevard du Parc Technologique, the mines had little time to return to work in the morning.
The day before, the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, which owns the organization, announced that it would liquidate the company in Canada and the United States, ending its operations.
“That’s bad enough as it is!” snarled an employee as she stormed into the establishment.
No warning signs
Some employees who were willing to confide in the Journal admitted learning the news through the media Thursday night. A meeting was to be held on Friday morning to explain the next steps to the employees.
“We didn’t see anything coming, it was a surprise for everyone. There was no rumor that things were going badly,” confided a technician who had been employed by the drug company for four years.
Visibly upset, the man claimed he had no plan B for the future and regretted not having been warned earlier.
“Let’s assume the atmosphere this morning isn’t festive, everyone is in shock,” said another staffer seen by Le Journal.
