In Gaza, the population does not know where to seek refuge. She lacks everything and has to cope with freezing temperatures and rain.
Winter has arrived in the huge tent camp in Rafah (Gaza). In this border town with Egypt, displaced families face rain and mud. They are hardly protected inside; there is no carpet on the floor to protect them from the cold. Makeshift shelters that fathers spend their time tinkering with and repairing. And in what serves as shelter there is a lack of clothing. A father of five children is destitute. “This situation is killing me, they tell me they are cold and I can't do anything,” he laments.
“We’re freezing to death”
In another tent lies a tired, sick baby and his angry mother. “Hamas members are hiding in their houses and in the tunnels while we have no food or water and are dying of cold,” she denounces. Between two rains, the displaced people look for wood. There are few, it's expensive. In the middle of the camp, the bread oven is a warm place. The rain has returned to Gaza and with it the mud. Children grabbed pieces of plastic to protect themselves.
