Through his Twitter account, Antonio García, commander of the
ELN, now decided on the possible political solution to the conflict, after President Gustavo Petro made the resumption of talks official.
According to García, the government of former President Iván Duque did not accept what was originally agreed and that is why this talk has been suspended.

“If you wanted to change something, I had to go to the table and propose or fight for a change in the agreement, that it is in itself distasteful to change something that has already been agreed. Well, if he didn’t like it, he should have said: we do not continue this process and withdraw, and continue to comply with breakage protocols. He acted like the little boy he ishe threw a tantrum. In the end, 4 years was lost,” Garcia wrote.
García justified this by saying that they had attacked them because of the operations against the ELN army and police, Although that wasn’t the reason for him end of the dialogues. Now, with the new government’s proposals, he stated that consideration should be given to how they will resume and move forward in line with what has been agreed.
Regarding the peace dialogues, it is important to say that the ELN has never set any conditions for a dialogue or a search for a political solution to the armed conflict in Colombia. 🧵👇
