We tested the new bar everyone’s talking about on Montreal’s North Shore – Silo 57

Inspired by the best of the metropolis, the refreshment bar Florida is the option the North Shore folks have been waiting for for a while now.

It’s true that everyone has been talking about the new refreshment bar Sainte-Rose since it opened in mid-February. La Florida is the little sister of the beloved Oregon Wine Bar, located next door. For the regulars at this institution, it’s the perfect excuse to prolong the evening.

You have to try it to understand the fascination surrounding this house. Something the Silo 57 team did!

Similar to entering a speakeasy, you must go through the back door to enter La Florida. It’s already setting the tone. Once you’ve found your way to the entrance, you’ll enter a cozy and slightly wacky universe.

Everything was designed and produced by the Barbeau Desrosiers design studio, who had the idea of integrating a multimedia projection into the decor. We are entitled to a stream of images that follow one another before our eyes. Impossible not to be dazzled by this unusual proposal!

The bar is the heart of this new refreshment bar. Majestic to say the least. There are only a few low tables around the bar. The establishment, which can only accommodate about fifty people, welcomes us undisturbed, which doesn’t fail us.

Once seated, we are offered a signature cocktail, the house specialty. But don’t be afraid to drink something else. Sometimes funky, sometimes classic, the wine list offers an interesting selection of products that are all very affordable. We let ourselves be enchanted by a glass of sparkling red wine.

What do we eat?

If you’re looking for a hearty menu, head to the adjacent Oregon Wine Bar. And come back for a cocktail. La Florida offers a more concise menu than next door. It’s perfectly normal, it’s a bar.

Our opinion? We really got what we wanted, starting with the slider, a rotisserie chicken burger with authentic Dic Ann’s sauce. Our favorite is without a doubt the sub with eggplant, mushrooms, banana pepper and cheese curd. Even the biggest carnivores will see nothing but fire!

Chef and co-owner Anthony Filiatraut and his staff added a few finger food options to enrich the menu: burrata toast, tangy olives, fries and dip. Nobody goes hungry; There is something for every taste and appetite.

Fancy a Norman hole? Ask your server for a jelly. Again, it won’t look like anything you’ve seen before.
