As her friend Jayne Jeje shared in a post published on Go Fund Me, Helen remained motionless in her seat and her loved ones for several hours they thought she had fallen into a deep sleepso they only became suspicious when it was too late.
Only a few hours after the start, her husband Simon actually did he noticed that the woman was no longer breathing and no longer responding to stimuli. The man immediately attempted to revive her with the help of flight attendants, but to no avail. The body of the woman, who worked extensively as a midwife in Hong Kong, remained in her seat for the remaining eight hours of the flight until the plane landed in Frankfurt.

Mrs. Rhodes’ body was picked up in Germany, while her husband and two children had to continue their journey to Great Britain without her. The “extremely traumatizing” tragedy unfolded before the eyes of children Nathan and Emma.
“We remain in disbelief and in shock at the sudden disappearance of our very dear friend Helen Rhodes, whose life has touched many in Hong Kong and the UK,” Jayne Jeje wrote. “Helen was one of a kind, a gem. She was a midwife by trade and was always ready to give advice or help to anyone.” Jeje started a fundraiser to help Helen’s husband and children cover the cost of transporting the body and the funeral.
