The recent rain has saddened international tourists who have come to admire the magic of Old Quebec.

“I couldn’t wait to see the snow. We're a little sad. We wanted to have a white Christmas that doesn’t exist in Mexico,” a Mexico City resident told TVA Nouvelles.

As for tourists from other regions, there would be fewer tourists in Quebec due to the lack of snow.

Data compiled by Destination Québec indicates a gap between the share of hotel rooms reserved in 2023 and 2022.

While the latter was 80% between December 24, 2022 and January 1, 2023, the share is lower at 74% in the same period a year later.

“We were encouraged that there was no wave of cancellations, but yes, reservations are down compared to last year […] There was some impact in terms of rain, but not as dramatic as expected,” said Robert Mercure, director of Destination Québec.
