A family from Cameroon who arrived in the country last year was able to count on the generosity of a local organization.
The Emegos settled in Saint-Romuald in Lévis a year ago with the essentials.
“We arrived with our own little things, clothes, shoes and then jumped straight into the snow,” explains the father of the family, Joseph Emego.
With both parents back at school, the family of four was no longer able to furnish their home.
“With kids who couldn't do their revision well, we constantly had to either go up the stairs to work with them so they were sitting or stay on the floor…” “It was all painful, the same thing,” explains Herr Emego.
However, a special delivery on Wednesday morning significantly improved her quality of life.
The South Shore General Store Saint-Vincent de Paul offered them a full load of furniture, tableware and housewares.
“We didn't expect it to be so grand, but we were really amazed when we saw the truck get out… we were overwhelmed,” said the father.
The goal of the nonprofit organization is to help people with low incomes.
