Wealthy influencer Sarah’s Day slammed for an unmusical post

Wealthy influencer Sarah Stevenson was slammed for baiting a “major life update,” which she later revealed was buying her second home.

The Sydney native, who goes by the nickname Sarah’s Day on social media, has been called “deaf” by some as the country grapples with a cost-of-living crisis and skyrocketing property prices.

She shares a house in Cronulla with her husband Kurt Tilse and two children, and announced in a YouTube video on Tuesday that they’ve bought a second “junk” house, which they plan to completely renovate and use for photoshoots and vacations.

The influencer hasn’t said where they bought the house, but it appears to be in their home state of NSW.

Addressing her 1.2million followers on Monday, she said she would share a “big life update” that would change the lives of her family forever.

“I’m going to be sharing some big life updates that are essentially time-consuming over the next few years and will really change our lives forever,” she said.

“It’s pretty big news for us that I didn’t really want to share, but I’ve decided it’s definitely going to come out.”

When it was revealed on her YouTube channel the next day that this “major update” consisted of her buying a second home, many viewers were upset and expressed their frustration in the @InfluencerUpdatesAU account’s comments.

“Hard to call this a life-changing lmao. What a privilege in the actual Criss that most people live in right now,” one wrote.

While another said: “So many things are wrong with that. Firstly, not really life-changing news, is it? Just click us to watch her YouTube video to get her more views – more money.

“Second, while the rest of us are struggling to pay rent/mortgage to keep up with the rising cost of groceries and fuel here, she flaunts to her followers that she’s bought another home, which leads to third; a cottage/house to photograph. What a privilege. It’s great to be able to afford what she does, but I don’t think she needed to announce it that way.

“It was very bad form. I unfollow,” they finished.

And a third wrote: “Why did she bring up this massive, huge life update when it literally just said, ‘Rich people get richer by buying a second house to rent out.’

Others understood that with her wealth it’s not uncommon to buy a second home but said she shouldn’t flaunt it as many Australians struggle to get rent or put groceries on the table as the Cost of living continues to rise.

“To be fair, if you had the money you would do absolutely the same thing. But I agree that flaunting it is numb,” wrote one user.

In her YouTube video, the influencer said it will be “an investment property” that she will use for photo shoots and as a vacation home for her family, extended family and friends.

“In the end we won [the auction] and I broke down in tears … I was so overwhelmed,” she said.

“Coming home I didn’t know what to say, I didn’t know how to feel, I didn’t know what to say to you guys, did I want to open up about it?” she continued.

“I couldn’t believe we won. If I don’t talk about this soon or in the next six months, it’s not because I’m hiding it from you guys, just because it’s a really slow process.

“I want it to be as comfortable as possible and of course building and building can have its stressful moments.

“I want to live in the moment and acknowledge that this is one of my biggest dreams and goals.”

The fitness influencer said the house she bought was “junk” and the land it’s on is why they bought it and it will be a complete makeover.

She added: “I think it will be ready in about three years, it will be a long process.”
